Resources to find known items: Google.com, rs.4chan.org, Tokyo Toshokan and other torrent hubs & trackers. Try digging through collections of doujinshi events if you know the event where it was first distributed. For the advanced: dig through the Japanese P2P networks, Share and Perfect Dark.

Resources to find images/graphics: Gelbooru, Danbooru, Lolibooru, DLsite (last I checked it was possible to purchase things from within the US at least).

The Doujinshi Database: a critical resource to learn more about artists, circles, manga and doujinshi. It can be searched in conjunction with Google (e.g.). E-hentai's gallery serves as a rather comprehensive database/gallery of scanned & scanlated items..

Resources to stay connected with new material: this website, pant.su blog, Usenet's ABPEA group, translation blogs (listed below). Keep tabs on your favorite artists (see Doujinshi DB), keep tabs on upcoming doujinshi conventions like Comic Market and anticipate the flood of scans that follow them.
